Using the tool

It’s important that the learning log records what you have learned about a situation and does not just describe the events, or the person’s behavior. You need to think about:

  • What went well? What did you learn for next time?
  • What didn’t go well? What did you learn for next time? 

Here are two examples of a learning log for Joyce’s night out

Compare them and notice the difference in content and the quality of information and learning about Joyce. Which one tells you more about how best to support Joyce? Which would pass on the lessons learned best?
